Our client is a well-established precision engineering firm in Tameside with a strong reputation for quality and reliability, manufacturing high-precision components across a range of industries from a modern facility and investing continuously in advanced machinery and their people.

They are looking for a skilled Quality Inspector to join the Quality team, reporting to the Quality Manager. You’ll play a key part in making sure every product leaving the facility meets specification – using both CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) technology and conventional metrology equipment to inspect, measure and verify components at every stage of production, in line with their ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out incoming, in-process, first-off, patrol and final inspections against engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements
  • Operating the CMM to measure complex geometries and verify critical dimensions and tolerances, including running and developing CMM programs
  • Using calibrated equipment such as micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges and bore gauges
  • Accurately recording inspection results and maintaining traceable records, including CMM results and First Article Inspections (FAI)
  • Identifying and segregating nonconforming product, raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and supporting root cause and corrective action
  • Working closely with Production and Engineering to resolve drawing or tolerance issues and support first-off inspections
  • Contributing to continuous improvement – helping reduce variation and improve repeatability across inspection processes
  • Approving or rejecting product based on inspection outcomes, with the authority to stop release when requirements aren’t met

What You’ll Need

  • Fully time-served engineer with a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
  • CMM operation and programming experience
  • Proficient with manual measuring equipment – micrometers, vernier calipers and height gauges
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and able to produce clear, concise written reports
  • Comfortable working to both company and customer quality plans
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 inspection requirements

What’s on Offer

  • £17.58 per hour (£36,566pa) plus overtime – realistic potential to earn £45,000+
  • Day shift, Monday to Friday
  • 25 days holiday plus 8 statutory days
  • Pension scheme
  • On-site parking
